Frequently Asked Questions about Therapy

Santa Rosa - Sonoma County

How often should I come in for treatment?

Weekly appointments are the most effective for you, especially if you are in distress. We are going to build a working relationship that will support you to try new ways of dealing with old challenges. Change takes practice and repetition. You may feel better right away, and like learning to play an instrument, it takes regular practice to sustain the changes.

What if I have an emergency?

Your calls are answered within 24 hours. Your health and well being is important. If you are having extreme anxiety, panic or depression, please go to the nearest emergency room. Sonoma County has excellent crisis phone lines staffed by caring people:

Sonoma County Crisis 707-576-8181    -    Rape Crisis/Domestic Violence 707-545-7273.

What if I donʼt feel any better?

If after a few sessions you donʼt feel better, we will look at other forms of treatment for you. We will work together to determine what type of treatment will suit you best. You may benefit from group therapy. You may need to see your primary care doctor to rule out medical conditions or you may benefit from working with a holistic practioner. We will work together to get you the right help.

What can I do to get the most out of therapy?
